The Abingdon Pottery Company originated in 1908 as the Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing Company where they specialized in producing commodes and other toiletry items. From 1934 through 1950, the company produced art pottery including novelties, utility ware and cookie jars. This cookie jar is #678 - the Windmill. It measures about 10.5" tall and is marked "Abingdon USA" on the base. It is hand painted in blue, green and maroon. It is in excellent condition with no damage.

During the 1920's The Quaker Oats Company acquired "Aunt Jemima". Since that time, she has been used in numerous advertising premiums. This cookie jar is such an example. During the 1950's Quaker Oats offered this svelte "soft plastic" version. This is the second time Quaker Oats offered a plastic Aunt Jemima cookie jar - the first was a hard plastic version manufactured by F&F. This is the LID ONLY for a vintage Shawnee cookie jar. Her name is Winnie the Pig. She is wearing a hat adorned with green clover leaves with pink buds, and has a green ruffled collar around her neck. This lid stands 6" tall and is 6" at the widest (across the collar). The wear on the base of the lid indicates her age - this is NOT a reproduction. There is no damage of any kind to this lid.
