This is a beautiful jardiniere by Weller. It has a squirrel and acorn motif with leaves, nuts and branches all around the 2 squirrels. It is in a blended high gloss glaze of browns, and greens. This design is often seen in the Clinton Ivory line, but is much rarer in the blended glaze finish. The Jardiniere measures nearly 9" in diameter and is about 7.25 " high. This bowl was made in 1915 by Weller. The pattern is called "Orris". It has a matte green finish over a red clay base. It looks like the green glaze was rubbed before firing, allowing the floral motif to show through. This bowl measures 2.5" high and is 6.75" wide. It has 4 feet. The Orris line is unmarked, although the bottom of this bowl has been painted gray and does have a signature as well as the number 44. The Weller Pottery Company was in business from 1882 until 1948. During this time they created several popular artist ware lines, one of which was Hudson.
