This beautiful rollover dish was made by F.B. Rogers. It is silverplate, pattern 273. The dome has "petal" shapes that radiate from the top about 1/4 of the way down the spherical dome. The remainder of the dome is plain. It attaches at the middle to a 3 legged base. The legs of the base are in the shape of lions heads! They curve down to a claw foot. This amazing wedding or bride's basket dates back to 1893. It was made by William Rogers, Hartford Connecticut, and is marked with pattern number 975. It is engraved "Compliments of Theta Delta Chi (with emblem), Tau Deuteron, Jan 23, 1893" on the inside of the basket. This chapter of the fraternity is no longer in existence, and we are not sure which college this basket originated from. It is in excellent condition with beautiful patina.
