The skilled artisans are guided only by tiny dots of graphite applied through perforated forms. With multi-colored designs, multiple firings (between color applications) are often necessary to achieve the correct colors. A single piece may take weeks to perfect. This nice teapot was manufactured by Meissen. It is in the Blue Onion pattern with amazing cobalt flowers and vines. It is actually quite small, measuring just 4 7/8" tall (at it's highest point), and 7" across (including handle and spout). I believe it is called a "mini teapot". It is marked with the crossed sword Meissen mark (see photo). There is no damage of any kind - other than the fact that the lid is not the correct lid for the Blue Onion pattern.
