This is a beautiful vase manufactured by the Van Briggle Art Pottery Company. It is actually a hand thrown piece - where most of there current day pieces are molded. This piece is turquoise in color (I believe Van Briggle references it as Ming Blue) and it gets more blue toward the top. You can see the "ribs" or rings that occured when this vase was hand thrown on the wheel. It also has hand applied flowers and scrolls on 2 sides. It is marked "Van Briggle Original Co Sp Co" on the bottom...

The Rookwood Pottery Company was established in Cincinnati Ohio in 1879. While early pieces were hand decorated, pieces after 1900 are said to be "production" pieces. The beauty in these later pieces often comes from the shape and design of the mold rather than hand-painted art work. Most Rookwood pieces are marked with the the reverse "RP". This mark originated in 1886. A "flame" was added (radiating out from the RP mark) for each year up until 1900...

Nicodemus Pottery was produced in Columbus Ohio by Chester Nicodemus from the mid 1930's to the mid 1980's. He produced his wares from clay local to the area, and sold mostly from his home/business which was called "Ferro-Stone Ceramics". While he is best known for his animal figurines, Nicodemus also produced vases, pitchers, and bowls. This is a wonderful pitcher. It stands 3.75" tall and has a 4" diameter...
