In the 1960's the Enesco importing company began marketing a line of kitchen novelties that they called “Mother in the Kitchen.” Today, they are better known as "Prayer
Ladies.” Each piece has a woman wearing a long white apron with a prayer on it. Her hands are pressed together, and her head is slightly lowered with eyes closed, signifying that she is praying. The woman always has a bun in her brown hair, and is typically wearing a pink dress...

In 1865, John and Charles Arbuckle patented a process for roasting and coating coffee beans. Their coffee became an instant success not only because of the quality of the product, but because of their ingenious marketing strategies. First, each bag of their coffee contained a peppermint stick. Next, the Arbuckle Brothers printed coupons on the back of the bags. These coupons could be redeemed for all types of items ranging from razors to wedding rings...

This tureen mas made by Spode-Copeland of England. The pattern, called "Blue Flowers", was produced from 1966 - 1977, and is characterized by blue and yellow flowers on a white background. This is a covered tureen - I believe they call it a covered vegetable tureen. It is footed, but does not have to tall pedestal type base. It measures about 9.25" in diameter at the widest, and is just over 8.5" tall (to the top of the finial). The ladle does not have any pattern on it...

The beautiful "pearl" blue was achieved by using aluminum oxide - differing the amount of aluminum oxide allowed for varied opacity. Some FOVAL items were trimmed with green or blue details. All Fry Art Glass pieces were hand blown and fire polished, with the pontils polished out...

This bowl was made by the Homer Laughlin China Company and is in the popular Fiesta line. The Fiesta line was first introduced in 1936 in 6 original colors. The mixing bowls were only produced in these original 6 colors since they were only produced from 1936 to 1943. They were produced in 7 sizes ranging from 5" to 11.5". Each bowl is marked on the bottom, with #1 being the smallest, and this (#7) being the largest. This #7 bowl is considered by collectors to be a "hard to find" item. Thi...

This is a wonderful goose neck (or flexible neck)lamp. The base, which is made to resemble tree bark, holds 2 glass ink wells, and has slots to hold 3 pens. There are scrolls around the bottom of the base. I believe it is made of bronze, with a wonderful patina that has developed with age. The shade has an overall cylindrical shape. There are no markings on it, but it resembles a scene by Noritake called Tree in the Meadow. It is hand painted in shades of orange, blue and brown. It appears...

The Rookwood Pottery Company was established in Cincinnati Ohio in 1879. While early pieces were hand decorated, pieces after 1900 are said to be "production" pieces. The beauty in these later pieces often comes from the shape and design of the mold rather than hand-painted art work. Most Rookwood pieces are marked with the the reverse "RP". This mark originated in 1886. A "flame" was added (radiating out from the RP mark) for each year up until 1900. After 1900 impressed Roman numerals wer...

This cologne or perfume bottle was manufactured by the Fostoria Glass Company. I would describe the color as apricot or peach (it is much lighter than Fostoria's amber color), with hand painted flowers on one side. The bottle has a 2-1/8" square base and measures 4-1/2" tall. The stopper is nearly a cube with 1" sides. The cologne stands 5-3/4" with stopper. Both cologne bottles are in excellent condition, with no apparent damage. The hand painted flowers are showing wear on both pieces. Bo...
