Van Tellingen and Bendel Individual Huggers

"Huggers" are salt and pepper shakers which were designed to pick up together (with one hand) and simultaneously dispense both spices without fear of dropping either shaker. This ingenious design was originally created around 1947 by Ruth Van Tellingen Bendel, and produced by the Regal China Company. Van Tellingen's Huggers produced prior to 1951 were impressed "Patent Pending", while those produced after 1951 were marked with the actual patent number. Van Tellingen created several different designs in a variety of colors, some more common than others. We have 2 single shakers available for sale. The Love Bug is green and black. It is marked "Bendel Love Bug" on the tail, and has the patent number on the base. There are 2 holes in this shaker. Mary has a peach dress and green trim on her bonnet. She is marked "Van Tellingen" on the back and "Pat Pend" on the base. She has 4 holes. Sorry, the Sailor has SOLD. The price for the Love Bug is $35.00 and the price for Mary is $25.00. Mary has a manufacturers flaw (see photo), but otherwise, all 3 are in excellent condition with no damage.
