Royal Doulton "Oliver Twist" Tankard

This tankard was manufactured by Royal Doulton. It is dated 1949 (on bottom). It depicts scenes from Charles Dickens famous work "Oliver Twist". There is a 1" band around the top of the tankard which reads "Oliver" on one side and "Twist" on the other. The "Oliver" side depicts a scene where Dodger is picking the pocket of an unsuspecting man. Under the picture it reads "Oliver amazed at the Dodgers mode of going to work". On the "Twist" side is a picture of Oliver's introduction to Fagin. It reads "Oliver's reception by Fagin and the boys". The bottom of the tankard is stamped with the Royal Doulton trademark, the "Oliver Twist" name, the date (1949) as well as other numbers (857581, 5902, and 74/49). This tankard measures 6 inches tall, and has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches. It is in excellent condition.
