Royal Bayreuth Sheep Creamer
This beautiful piece was made by Royal Bayreuth before 1920. Royal Bayreuth was founded in Tettau, Bavaria, in 1794. While the factory has continued to modern times, the marks have changed through the years. A stylized crest, the name Royal Bayreuth, and the word Bavaria appear in slightly different forms from 1870 to about 1919. Later marks include the words U.S. Zone, the year of the issue, or the word Germany instead of Bavaria. This creamer depicts five sheep in a snow covered terrain. In the background you can see trees, shrubs and mountains against the beautiful colorful sky. The colors are amazing! The handle is painted gold. There is also a "rope" texture around the lip, about 1/8" from the top. This creamer is in excellent condition with no damage of any kind. It measures 3" tall and 3 1/2" across the handle. It is marked on the base with a blue mark.
