Adams Chusan Covered Octagonal Vegetable Bowl
This Calyx ware piece was manufactured by Adams (a member of the Wedgwood Group) between 1970 and 1979. It is in the lovely Chusan pattern. This pattern is characterized by brown birds, white flowers and a celadon body. Celadon glazes can be produced in a variety of colors depending on the thickness of the applied glaze and the type of clay to which it is applied. However, the most famous celadons range in color from a very pale green crackle to deep intense green. The color was believed to mimic the green shades of jade. This piece is a pale green in color. It is classified as octagonal covered vegetable bowl. It measures 10 1/4" (across the handles) by 8 1/2" and is 3" deep. The overall height with the lid is 6 1/2". The base has the Adams mark, as well as the "Calyx Ware" and "Chusan" pattern mark. Both pieces are in MINT condition - not even showing signs of use.
