This colorful vase is the work of Joseph Mrazek. Mrazek apparently created "Peasant Art Industry" in his hometown of Letovice - a town in Blansko District, South Moravian Region, in the Czech Republic. I can find very little information about Peasant Art. Limited information on this factory can be found dating as early as 1917 and as late as 1930. Apparently there are 4 Mrazek marks. This one is with "signature mark" with JMrazek in the center of a circle. Also included in the mark is "Peasant Art Industry, Made in Czechoslovakia". The mark is stamped in blue. The number 116.K is also handwritten on the base. This vase is very vibrant in color. There are yellow, orange and purple flowers as well as green leaves painted on a royal blue background. The background appears to be speckled. The vase has the typical black ring around the top which seems to appear on all Mrazek works. It is a glazed cream color on the inside. The vase stands 7.25 inches tall. It has a 3 3/8" diameter at the opening, and a 5 1/4" diameter at its widest. It is in excellent condition with no damage or crazing.
