1978 Darci Doll by Kenner
In 1978 Kenner introduced "Darci" and friends in order to compete with Barbie. In their attempt to set her apart, Kenner opted to make Darci different - she was 12 1/2" tall with a fully poseable body and 3 distinct hair colors. She was marketed as a real "cover girl", complete with several designer outfits, a fashion studio, and her own line of perfume. Sadly, despite Kenner's efforts, Darci could not compete with Barbi, and production was stopped shortly after it started. This Darci is an introductory version. She has never been out of the box and comes with the original outfit, portfolio, posing stand and paperwork. She is a brunette with a "2-piece (pink) fashion outfit for beach and evening wear" and silver shoes. She has a large pink flower tied to her neck with a pink bow. The box has been opened, but is in very good condition. The doll has a couple of discolored areas on her arms - I have no idea what caused them (see photo).
