This terrific platter was created by the Steubenville Pottery Company from 1953 until the closing of the company in 1959. It is in the Raymor Contempora line. This line was created by Ben Seibel. Seibel, having just created the Raymor Modern Stoneware line for Roseville, was hired by Steubenville to create this modern tableware. The Raymor Contempora line is identifiable by the innovative shapes. Displayed individually, each piece presents as modern sculpture yet is durable enough to serve as a highly functional dinnerware. The line was created in 4 known colors: Fawn, Charcoal, Mist Gray, and Sand White. This serving platter is Fawn in color. It measures 16.5" by 12" and is oval in shape with 3 divided compartments (1 large and 2 small). It is in teriffic shape with no damage. It is marked on the base.
