Fry Glass Company Vase - FOVAL
FOVAL (which derived its name from Fry OVenglass Art Line) was produced by the H.C. Fry Glass Co. of Rochester, Pennsylvania. The beautiful "pearl" blue was achieved by using aluminum oxide - differing the amount of aluminum oxide allowed for varied opacity. Some FOVAL items were trimmed with green or blue details. All Fry Art Glass pieces were hand blown and fire polished, with the pontils polished out. This was a very costly process, which is most likely why the FOVAL line was produced for less than 1 year, between 1926 & 27. FOVAL pieces were only marked with a paper label in the form of a gold shield marked "Fry Glass Co."
