Stonelain Art Deco Charger - Archer
$295.00
This charger was manufactured by Stonelain Pottery. The historic Associated American Artists Gallery (New York City), under direction of master potters William Soini and Frances Server, produced pottery under the Stonelain label from the early 1940's to 1952. Stonelain featured work from some of the foremost artists of the day. This charger is signed SHVM followed by a C inside a circle (I have not been able to identify this artist). It depicts an archer standing on one toe, poised and ready to shoot. The target is apparently outside of the scene beyond the beautiful tree, painted in blues, greens and browns. The orange sun can be seen rising at the horizon behind the archer. This charger measures 13" long and 8.75" wide. It is unusual in shape. It is in excellent condition with no damage of any kind. It is marked with the Stonelain mark (a handled pitcher with the intertwined "SS" initials).
