Royal Crown Derby Imari Goblet - 1128

This goblet was made by the Royal Crown Derby Company of England. While this company may not be the best known producers of bone china, they are known for producing high quality pieces (in 1890 they were appointed as a manufacturer for the Queen - this is when "Royal" was added to the Company's name). Early on, they started producing "Japan ware" pieces decorated in Imari style, using red, cobalt blue and gold in their Oriental patterns. 1128 was one of these patterns. This goblet is marked on the base (see photo). The XXXVI (Roman numeral cypher) mark indicates that it was made in 1973. It stands 5" tall and is in excellent condition with no damage. There is a bit of gold "overspray" on the footed base and an area at the rim where the gold appears to have been smeared when it was wet (see photos). This piece lists for over $200 on many internet sites.
