This charming little orchestra was made by Wendt & Kühn of Erzgebirge in Germany. The musicians are actually chubby wooden angels with green wings and eleven peculiar white dots on each wing - characteristic of W&K. The first angel musician was actually hand crafted as folkart in 1923 by Margarete Wendt. In 1937, the orchestra went on to win a gold medal at the World's Fair in Paris. This orchestra consists of the following: Grand Piano (closed), Bell Ringer w/Sheet Music (2), According (sitting), Singer with Sheet Music (sitting), Double Bass (2), Cello (sitting), Violin, Lute, Zither, Bassoon, Clarinet, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Kettledrum, Drum, Triangle, Harp, Conductor, Conductor's Stand and Conductor's Podium. There are 24 pieces in all. All pieces are in excellent condition with no apparent damage. The tallest (standing) figures are just 2.5" high. Almost all of the pieces bear the original "Original Erzgebirge Expertic, Made in German Democratic Republic" label on the base. These pieces list individually for $25 - $80 each at other sites.
