Schmid 8 Day Jewels Clock Gold Music Box Early 20th

Great little pendulum clock by "Schmid" signed in cursive center top of the metal face, "8 Days Jewels" lower center of face; "Fabrik SSS Marke, D. B. Pongem" impressed both on the outisde music box case in the back, and on the silver metal of the inside works; "Brahm's Lullaby Merry Widow 267268" on original paper label underneath (not pictured); plus a hand engraved social security number on the outside back of the door. We have no key; there are 2 loose pieces of hardware found inside, the function of which we do not know; and the top finial has some wear to the gilding. It is our belief that the gold coating and the tiny handpainted floral designs are a relatively new addition to what was probably black enamel over brass. There is some oxidation to the back brass. A very nice little clock with beautiful, ornate hands, measuring an overall 7" tall, 4-1/4" wide, 2-1/8" deep plus the music box case. Not working now, but with a key from your jeweler, it shouldn't take much in the way of repair. Relatively good condition. Early 20th Century. $12 US Shipping.
