This old pulley was used on a farm to hoist tons of hay into the loft of the barn for winter. It has two one inch rope pulleys side by side. There is a small feeder pulley mounted at the very bottom of the block. The heavy "blacksmithy' steel is assembled within the wooden block, which appears to be oak.The clevis and hook are also built as part of the pulley. The hook is three inches across and approx. 5 inches long. It is amazing how well these pulleys were made. They were made for long term and heavy usage. This pulley is still in great condition, even the wood is much as it must have been when it was in use for all those years. This one is marked "iron bushed" and has a quarter sized medallion centered on one side that is imprinted with a star and some small lettering that is hard to make out. There is a small lettered date that appears to be 1870. The wooden part is 14 inches long and 4 1/4 inches across It is 4 1/2 inches thick. This is a truly hard to find item and could be used for many decorative applications. It could still be used in the same way it was used in 1870's if you are inclined to live that way. These can still be seen in museums. AND, THIS ONE IS MUSEUM QUALITY.Shipping is figured on the actual cost according to weight and there is no charge for packing.
