What a beautiful way to enjoy tea with your friends!
The teapot has a wonderful sweeping handle, very graceful, that is heavily decorated in 22K gold, as is the lid. The Art Deco shape and heavy gold treatment is repeated on the creamer and sugar. The set includes eight cups and saucers for a complete service for eight.
Condition is quite good! Luster is excellent on all pieces. The iridescence makes me think of bubbles just before they burst...mesmerizingly colorful!
I found some gold worn from the spout, and minor roughness in this area, see photo. See also the photo of the inside of the pot, which has crazing and associated discoloration. There is gold wear to the top of the creamer handle, and a strip of missed application on one of the sugar handles which should be apparent on one of the photos. The saucers have some surface wear on the centers, very minor and hardly worth mentioning. One of the eight cups has a 1/2" section of the inner gold stripe missing. All these issues are forgivable, in light of the fact that the set is complete and has no serious chips, cracks or other damage.
The saucers bear the Homer Laughlin Eggshell Nautilus logo, and the overstamped Geo H Bowman and Sons mark (decorators).
The teapot measures 10" from handle to spout, 5 3/4" high with lid in place and 5 3/4" wide.
The sugar is 6 7/8" long, 3 1/4" high x 3 1/2" wide.
Creamer is 5 3/4" long x 3 1/4" high x 3 1/2" wide.
Cups are 3 1/4" in diameter x 2 1/2" high, and saucers are 5 3/4" in diameter.
Just a beautiful set with strong Art Deco lines. A respectable addition to any Homer Laughlin or tea set collection!
