Item #081309-mon

Here is an old print of a monk or friar cutting into a loaf of bread, with his mug of bear nearby. He looks pretty content! Unknown artist, signed, but I don't recognize and can't fully make out the signature. This is a print made from what appears to have been a colored engraving or etching.

The print is contained within a primitive handmade frame that consists of four panels of veneer; the two on top and bottom are notched in the corners and fastened to the wood with large iron nail heads. These panels are also engraved with the title. "Bread and Chaser".

The frame is a wonderful example of folk art in and of itself. The print is of the same era of the frame, estimated to be early 1900s. It is sealed within the frame, though the backing is a bit loose in places.

Overall: 14.5''H x 11.5''W. Condition as seen in photos.
