Luca Madrassi, Antique MIGNON Bronzed / Spelter Statue,
I am offering an absolutely beautiful statue that I believe is described as bronze over spelter.
It is a statue of Mignon by world famous Luca Madrassi, (1848-1916).
Beneath her right foot, within a banner is her name, “MIGNON”, and beneath her left foot is the “Madrassi” signature.
She is wearing a fringed cape or shawl and is holding a mandolin while standing next to a tree stump.
This particular work was probably one of Madrassi’s later ones, as I believe it is attributed to the early 1890’s.
She stands just over 22” tall, the base is about 6” diameter, (the widest overall points including the mandolin are nearer to 8”), and she weighs in at a shipping weight of 23#.
She shows no damage, however there are a couple of places, under her left arm, and a couple in the back on the tree stump that evidently were not totally covered by the bronzing process and show as whitish. Please see the pics. These could easily be darkened and then not be at all obvious, or could probably be covered by a bronzing process if you wished. I have several more pics and if you wish to see them please advise me. This item will also be on display at Lincoln Antique Mall, Lincoln Mo. so please check with me regarding availability if interested. Thank you very much for looking.
