Texaco Gasoline,Wood Fuel Tank Gauge, Westcott-Jewell
I am offering a very nice old, and very rare Texaco black-painted, wooden gasoline gauge. This was probably used to gage the fuel in the tank prior to “fuel gages” mounted on the dashboard. One side is marked in 1” increments, from 1 to 15 and says “ GASOLINE GAUGE” between the 13,14, and 15 marks. The other side has a Texaco star with a “T” in it centered in the gauge and it has “TEXACO AUTO GASOLINE, GIVES MORE MILE PER GALLON” in 2 lines to the left, plus “ TEXACO MOTOR OIL, LENGTHENS THE LIFE OF THE MOTOR” in 2 lines to the right of the star. About 1” below the hanging hole on the logo side it is also very faintly stamped marked across the width WESTCOTT-JEWELL CO, SENECA FALLS, N.Y. The paint may originally have been a pale silver or gold, but if it was white, it was never strong white as it is so evenly colored I do not believe it has faded or been rubbed off. It is in extremely nice condition, but not mint as it has a few small nicks on edges near the hole, and tiny indents near the hole. It measures 17” long, ¾” wide, and about 1/8” thick. I will always be willing to combine your multiple purchases to save shipping costs when feasible. This item will also be on display at Lincoln Antique Mall, Lincoln Mo. so please check with me regarding availability if interested. Thank you very much for looking.
