F.B. Rogers Silver Tape Measure/Paperweight

Very Unique Silver-plated, or possibly Sterling 78” tape measure with the “Great Seal” of the United States embossed into side plates, half on obverse, half on reverse. I have seen an original box for one of these marked “Silver”. Very strong embossing, and very top quality made. I believe this was sold originally as a combination tape measure and paperweight, by F.B. Rogers Co. Made in Germany. Heavy, solid-feeling item. No brand name showing anywhere on outside. Measures appx 2 7/8” in diameter, and appx. 9/16”thick. Marked in both fractions and metrics. The actual steel measuring tape is in near perfect condition. The outer case has no noticeable dents dings, scuffs, or scratches of note. It does appear to have possibly been carried in a pocket a little due to the fact that I believe it originally had a clear coat of possibly lacquer to protect the silver sheen, and it has enough wear through to need removal or recoating. I have spent a few minutes with silver polish, but needs clear coat removed to be evenly polished. This item will also be on display at Lincoln Antique Mall, Lincoln Mo.
