I am not sure if this is a bonsai planter or just a regular old planter. It may be to tall. Hotta Yu Shoten went out of business in 1947. This item might be pre-WWII. It measures 7" in length and 2 3/4" in width. There are no breaks. There is a tight hairline crack (been there since I bought it) and a tiny shallow chip on the rim and a few small areas of paint loss on the trim. This lovely plate, entitled "Springtime Jewels," measures 8 1/2" across. It was custom fired for Oxmoor Gallery, Birmingham, Alabama for preferred customers. I tried to get in touch with the gallery to get more info to pass along on the plate, but either they are no longer in business or have changed their name. This little bowl measures approximately 5 7/8" across. I am not sure if the bowl was manufactured in Japan and hand decorated in Hong Kong, but the bottom says Japanese Porcelainwares, hand decorated in Hong Kong. There are no chips, cracks or breaks.
