Barker Bros. Royal Tudor Ware Pitcher
|| for item M-1305
It is also marked as Liverpool Road Pottery, Ltd, along with the Barker Bros. Trent-on-Stoke logo. The pitcher also has London, England incised on the bottom. It is also marked as ironstone. It was probably a souvenir from Crieff, Scotland since Crieff is on the side in gold lettering. It features what, I assume, is a bunch of heather along with a plaid ribbon. On the back of the pitcher there is a smaller variation of the front decoration. It is approximately 3 3/4" in height and has a fluid capacity of 8 ounces. Barker Bros. closed in the early part of the 1960's, that is as close as I can come to giving you an accurate date. There are no chips, cracks, breaks or paint loss. Oddly, there is no crazing which is so common on ironstone (I kinda like crazing.) I photograph all items outside and noticed a slight roughness on the rim right above the handle. I can't really tell if it is damage or the way it was made. I am seeing little if any damage to the gold trim or lettering.
