George Frederick Watts Esperance
I believe the original was painted in 1885. The listed print was published in 1925 by Borin Mfg. Co., Chicago. The frame measures 17 3/4 x 13 3/4 inches and the exposed print measures 15 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches, however, the print is most likely closer to the frame size. The print and frame are showing much brighter than they are in reality, but I like natural light for full disclosure. There is no structural damage to the frame, but there is age related wear to the finish. It was purchased at an antique store several years ago, and they swore to me that it had not been resealed with new materials, but it obviously has been re-done. I am sorry, but there is a lot of reflection in the print. There are complete condition photographs of front and back available by email. I need your zip code to calculate the postage. NOTE: These days, some people are calling this print "Hope" because esperance is a derivative of the obsolete word esperaunce meaning hope.
