Brass Double Action Spring Hinge

Brass double action spring hinge. I hope my identification is right. I didn't know what they were, when I bought them, but thought might possibly have a use for them, however, after 15 years of waiting, I've not found a use. The length is just shy of 5 inches. The width, in the position shown in photograph, is 3 1/2 inches. It weighs approximately 2 pounds. There is green and beige paint splatter on both sides.
