Sold -- Thank You!!
There are so many variances in McCoy pottery items that you cannot simply state that a particular item cannot be a McCoy piece because of the glaze, etc. This is one of those pieces and it has been a part of my personal McCoy collection for well over 20 years.
It is the small jardinière (planter) from the Butterfly line of the 1940s. It measures 2 ¾” tall, 3 ¼” diameter, and bottom has overlapping NM (mark), USA.
Planter is not as thick/heavy as usually found – it was very early from the mold and the butterflies are outstanding!
The color is also unusual – it’s blue with a clear/shiny over-glaze, not the usual semi-matte.
It is in excellent condition with no “use” evidence (I did not use it, just displayed). The only blemish is a McFlaw – a small pop that occurred during removal from the mold.
This is a wonderful and unusual find for any McCoy collection!
