$75.00 Vintage Funeral Home Advertising
This listing has an unusual item and it's collectible in more than one collecting area!
It's a silhouette by Frederick D. Ogden and an advertising piece for a funeral home -- even more unusual (for that time) is the funeral home was owned and operated by a woman!
The background picture is a river scene -- quite detailed -- even has a boy fishing, sitting on a rock with his pant legs rolled up. His trusty companion, Spot, has seen something of interest on the river bank and he's standing at attention!
The silhouette portion is of a young couple in a covered buggy and they've stopped at the shallow crossing to let their horse drink before going on -- you can see the road continued on the other side of the water.
The thermometer measures 2 1/8" long and it works.
The advertising is in the upper left corner and it reads: Jordan Funeral Home, "A Home of Personal Service", Helen Jordan Sanders, 2428 E. 10th Street, Melrose 6-4304, 6-4305.
Silhouette is in a gold color metal frame and measures 8" long, 6" wide.
This is a super nice item and a piece of history!
