McCoy Pottery Yellow Mouse Cookie Jar

This listing has a very colorful McCoy cookie jar – the bright yellow mouse!

Made only 1978-79, this is a nice size jar (7 ¼” to rim, 11 ½” from bottom to top of ears) and is marked on bottom: 208, McCoy, Lancaster Colony (mark), USA.

Mr. Mouse is in wonderful condition – has a very faint, super tight ¼” hairline on lid’s inner rim – not surprising because the lid fits snugly.

The fit of the lids for this particular style jar is almost always too tight or too loose which accounts for the number of these jars found without lids as well as for the very short production period!

This lid does fit snugly and actually will not align perfectly with his face – not enough to be detrimental but it cannot be forced without breakage.

I would surmise that owner(s) only displayed this jar because it still has almost all the original cold paint!
