Classic Wood and Paper Vintage Fan with Message

This is a classic wood and paper hand-held fan!

The little stars are applied and a few are missing. Each of the two end wood slats/spines has a tight hairline crack at the upper ends. For whatever reason, a prior owner appears to have attempted to place a pin (or tiny nail) into the end slats which caused these cracks. I can see 3 teeny holes by one crack and 1 teeny hole by the other one. I have absolutely no idea why someone would do that but they did.

I opened the fan and it opens with no problems (I wanted to check because it has been a bit since we took the photos).

Like so many paper fans, it should be opened and closed with care (it won't "snap" closed like plastic fans). Remember that it is a vintage fan so it should be handled with a degree of care so as to not tear the fan. When I folded it shut, one of the pleats did not "pleat/fold" so I just touched it and it pleated/folded right up.

The back of the fan has writing on it in pencil (could be erased if you choose but it’s rather sweet). The writing is “Miss Mary Elizabeth (last name could be Givens, I’m not certain). The other name (not certain of first name) Louis Rash, Jr. and is followed by two hearts with an arrow through them. How precious is that?
