This is a lovely rare EARLY VICTORIAN KINGS pattern solid sterling silver salt spoon which was made in London, England in 1845 by the illustrious Georgian silversmiths, John Lias and Henry Lias at their Finsbury Square workshops. It measures 4 1/4" long and is almost 1 1/4" across its bowl. It is in double struck King's pattern with the diamond heel. This spoon weighs 30.2 grams - almost 1 troy oz. This piece of cutlery is engraved to the handle with the monogram S.
It is in very good condition with just the usual surface scratching than you'd expect for it's age and no dents, without the usual dimpling and distortion to the bowl and less than the usual wear to the leading edge - SUPERB. It is hallmarked on the reverse of the handle with IL over HL, leopard head, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), K, Victoria duty mark showing that it was hallmarked in London in 1845. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A rare Victorian Kings pattern salt spoon from illustrious silversmiths in superb condition after over 165 years!
