This is a very interesting song book titled “Songs Of The South – Words and Music of 17 Favorite Negro Spirituals.” The Commission On Interracial Cooperation, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia published the book. There is no copyright date in the book, however, I am guessing that it is from the 1930’s to 1940’s. The front inside cover has a narrative titled “The Negro Spiritual” by Professor Frederick Hall, Director of Music, Dillard University of New Orleans. ...click for details

This is vintage sheet music. The cover shows that there are Two Negro Spirituals – “Leanin’ On De Lawd” and “Standin’ In De Need O’Prayer” – both arranged by William Reddick. These songs had been sung by Oscar Seagle. Even though the cover shows there are two songs, it appears that only the first, “Leanin’ On De Lawd” is inside, unless the two are some how incorporated. I do not read music, so I cannot tell. The music is complete and see no evidence that any pages are missing. ...click for details
