This is a very interesting advertisement dated April, 1945, for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation of Burbank, California. The top of the ad reads, "Der Gabelschwanz Teufel" which means "Fork-tailed devil" – or Lockheed P-38 Lightning. German pilots who had been lucky enough to escape its wrath named the plane. This is a very nice military patch from the Air Force. It shows a very nice Eagle. A fighter jet is in the upper area of the patch followed by a large band of red circling the patch. This is a military patch for Delta Company 34th Spt. Bn. – 6th Cavalry – Wagonmasters. If my research is correct “Spt. Bn.” Stands for Support Battalion.
My internet research turned up little information about his patch. I did learn the Delta Company began in mid-1968 as a result of a restructuring effort due to shortages of personnel experienced by Bravo and Charlie Companies in the Vietnam War. ...click for details
