This advertising duo comes from a March 1944 National Geographic Magazine.

The first side is an advertisement for Armament Body By Fisher, a division of General Motors. The ad proclaims, "On every fighting front - Fisher." There is a great picture of an Army/Navy "E" plane and tank with "Buy War Bonds Today - Keep America Fee" in the upper right corner.

The reverse side is an advertisement for The Prudential Insurance Company...

This is a military patch for Delta Company 34th Spt. Bn. – 6th Cavalry – Wagonmasters. If my research is correct “Spt. Bn.” Stands for Support Battalion.

My internet research turned up little information about his patch. I did learn the Delta Company began in mid-1968 as a result of a restructuring effort due to shortages of personnel experienced by Bravo and Charlie Companies in the Vietnam War.

I believe this patch dates back to the late 1960’s or early 70’s...

This is a military patch for 6170 Combat Support Squadron – Home of the Dragon.

My internet research turned up little information about his patch. I found this identical patch on a military site showing that it was the patch was or a squadron in Suwon Airforce Base in South Korea.

I believe this patch dates back to the mid-1950’s to early 1960’s...

This is one in a series of Navy Training Courses titled "Aircraft Materials – Navpers 10330-A." The book was prepared by Naval Air Technical Training Command. The original copyright was 1949, however, it was reprinted with minor changes in 1953.

The book, as I understand it, discusses different materials. Some of the illustrations are almost comical compared to the technical illustrations that are probably used today...

This lovely, vintage postcard shows the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, Virginia. The Tomb was completed in 1931. It has a white marble sarcophagus over the grave with the inscription, "Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God." Thomas Hudson Jones of New York was the sculptor and Lorimer Rich of New York was the architect.

The front side of the postcard is in good condition with some minor wear to the edges and corners...

This is a nice vintage advertisement dated April, 1945, for Studebaker – Wartime Builder of Wright Cyclone Engines for Boeing Flying Fortress. The end of World War II was still several months away, so all major companies were supporting the war – making parts for planes and other equipment. The ad features nice artwork by Frederic Tellander (1878-1977).

The reverse side features advertising for Burlington Lines – Everywhere West...

This is a very interesting advertisement dated April, 1945, for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation of Burbank, California. The top of the ad reads, "Der Gabelschwanz Teufel" which means "Fork-tailed devil" – or Lockheed P-38 Lightning. German pilots who had been lucky enough to escape its wrath named the plane...

This is a nice vintage advertisement dated April, 1945, for Boeing – designers of the B-29 Superfortress, the Flying Fortress and the new Stratocruiser. The ad shows a picture of the C-97 Army transport which had an average speed of 383 miles an hour with tail winds averaging approximately 45 mph.

World War II was still raging when this advertisement was printed...

This is such a cool advertisement dated April, 1945, for New York Central System Railroad. The ad shows a cross-section of the train’s cars and states, " Who’s Who on the ‘Century" . . . calling the roll aboard the flagship of New York Central’s wartime fleet." These trains were used to move war traffic.

The reverse side features advertising for Matson Lines to Hawaii and the South Pacific. "Delights to come."

The page measures 6 7/8" x 10"...
