This vintage military postcard shows a gunner in a U. S. Navy Fast Fighter. The caption reads: Bird’s-Eye-View of the "Man With the Gun." This is a wartime postcard sent from a soldier while on watch to his mother in Moody, Texas. The postmark is from Athens, Georgia, and is dated February 7 (I believe), 1944. The postage area has been postmarked and the word "Free" is written where the stamp should go.

The postcard is in good condition with some minor wear to the corners and edges...

It is clear from both sides of this page from National Geographic that we were at war. Automobile manufacturers put their businesses on hold to build parts for military planes, tanks and other military equipment.

This is an advertisement from a National Geographic dated July, 1945, for Body by Fisher - a Division of General Motors.

This vintage postcard shows an army man complaining about the fit of his uniform. The man behind the counter assured the complainer that "We always try to satisfy th’ customer."

There is no date on the postcard, however, from my research I have determined the postcard is dated 1940 from the number assignment in the lower right hand corner. The back side of the card is unused. "C.T...

This is a nice vintage military patch. The patch is made of a navy-blue woolen material. At the top center of the patch is a white embroidered Eagle. Below the Eagle is the medic symbol. Two solid red bars are embroidered at the bottom of the patch.

The only other information I have – the patch appears to have been removed from a uniform. It came from an estate sale and appears to be old but in very good condition...

This is an advertisement from August, 1944, for Bell Telephone System. The picture shows a group of U. S. Marines on Bougainville stringing communication lines using palm trees as telephone poles. Two other soldiers stand guard. A clear sign that this ad was run during the war.

This is an advertisement from August, 1944, for General Motors Diesels. A nice wartime ad showing GM’s contribution to the war effort.

The reverse side features advertising for Matson Lines to Hawaii and the South Pacific. The ad states, "When war has been swept from this world, Matson will return to its peacetime task of escorting friends to please, far-away places."

This is an advertisement from August, 1944, Aviation Division of The Studebaker Corporation. "Those engines sure have the power!" Studebaker built the Wright Cyclone Engines for the Boeing Flying Fortress. A very nice war-time advertisement.

The reverse side features advertising for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. The ad gives stark reminders of some of the mistaken beliefs about cancer.

This is a military patch for the A-7E Corsair II. This aircraft was used by both the Air Force and the Navy. For two decades, it’s stub-nose was a familiar sight on the flight decks of carriers. Use of the plane began during Vietnam and was used continually until post-Desert Storm.

The A-7E Corsair II could carry substantial payloads for great distances. It was able to penetrate hostile defenses and deliver the ordnance accurately. The F/A-18C Hornet replaced this plane.
