This issue of McCall’s Needlework & Crafts will take you back to when times were so simple! Moms wore aprons to cook, furniture was sleek and modern, and people actually had time to made things. The date on this issue is Fall-Winter 1956-57.

There are so many projects in this issue, it is hard to know where to begin. There are patterns for knitting, crochet, tatting, as well as, crafts and other needlework...

There are lots of cute greeting cards available today, but you would be hard-pressed to find one any cuter than these six note cards. The front side is an olive green in color with a roll of brightly colored flowers on each side of the card. In the middle sits a very precious white dog (a poodle, I think) with flowers on top of its head.

This is another great pattern book by J. & P. Coats / Clark’s O.N.T. titled "Quick Crochet – 21 Easy-To-Do Items In New Speed-Cro-Sheen." The copyright for this book is 1953 First Edition.

You will get a nice variety of patterns and instructions in this book. Projects include a rugs, pot holders, hats, handbags, place mats, chair pad covers, pillows, slippers, lace belt, and a casserole dish jacket. (See photos)

This is a very nice booklet of projects titled "Knick-Knacks To Crochet – Book No. 134." The Spool Cotton Company published the book that has a 1939 copyright.

This is a nice instruction hobby book titled "How To Twine Baskets and Such" by George Smith of Sierra Madre, California. Craft Course Publishers of Rosemead, California, published the book that has a 1976 copyright.

This is a vintage humorous postcard that states, "Reason? There’s no reason – it’s company policy."

The postcard is to Mary in Fort Worth, Texas, from Melba. Melba is recounting all the places she has been and is yet to be. I got a chuckle when she tells how there was competition for their supper with a bear in Yellowstone Park – so they left!

The postcard is in good condition with some minor wear to the corners. The back is postmarked July 2, 1958...

This vintage postcard shows the Miyako Hotel in Kyoto, Japan. I have three of these postcards – probably meant to be sent to family and friends from the traveler. There is no information as to the date.

This vintage postcard shows the Hermitage – Home of President Andrew Jackson near Nashville, Tennessee. The postcard has been postmarked in Nashville with a May 31, 1946, date.

The postcard is from Mary to her Mom in Fort Worth, Texas, letting her know she would be home soon.

The postcard is in good condition with some minor wear to the corners. The card has darkened due to age. The left side of the card has some postmark ink on it...

This vintage postcard is a photograph of a young man sitting in front of a piano. From the surroundings in the photo, I am guessing the date to be in the 1920’s or 1930’s. The picture is light, but in good condition.

This photograph has almost a haunting feel to it! It shows a man sitting on top of filled bags loaded onto a four-wheel wagon. The wagon is being pulled by a camel in Karachi, Pakistan.

In the bottom margin, it says, "103. – Camel Cart – Karachi (Pak.)

Though this item is the same size as a postcard, the back side is blank...
