Attendance and On-Time Plan for Sunday School Dept.
for item Misc203
This is a very vintage Attendance and On-Time Plan for Beginners", Primary, and Junior Departments for Sunday Schools. It was published by Lamar & Barton Department of Sunday School Supplies in Nashville, Tennessee and has a copyright of 1918. Larmar & Barton also had locations in Dallas, Texas, and Richmond, Virginia.
The front side of this Attendance Plan features a picture of the old woman who lived in the shoe and her home, an old high-top brown shoe. This document is from Joe"s Creek Sunday School and Mrs. N. H. Adkins was the teacher. This record is for pupil, Beatrice Brohard with a date of February 3, 1924.
The way the chart works - every time a student was on time, they were given a seal to place on the card. The instructions state that a full card makes a pretty souvenir.
This unusual item does show age wear which is no surprise when it is around 86 years old according to the copyright date and was used 80 years ago. The front surface has some surface wear and some light spotting on the outer edges. There is a cut on the lower left side even with the picture border that looks like a scissor cut and stops just before getting into the picture area. There are three dimples from the back side that cause small raised dots on the front. Two of these are in the border area at the top. There is wear to the edges and corners. The upper right corner has been bent. The back side has darkened with age and has a small stain above the information block.
Considering the age of this item, the wear and damage are what you would expect. The fact that a paper item has survived this long is amazing to me!
This is a nice piece of religious or Sunday School memorabilia!
