Baseball:Records, Stars, Feats & Facts -Louis Phillips

This little book is only 5" x 4", but is filled with a lot of Baseball facts. The illustrations are by Paul Frame. It has a copyright of 1979.

The first part of the book is called Gallery Of Stars. It has 71 pages with two pages for each Baseball star, giving their lifetime statistics and a one-page biography. Each has a nice black and white drawing of the player. Some of the baseball greats that are featured: Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra, Ty Cobb, Joe DiMaggio, Jimmy Foxx, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantel, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Pete Rose, Babe Ruth, Nolan Ryan (through 1978 - little did we know in 1979 what we had to look forward to from this man), and many others.

The section titled Records, Feats and Facts gives baseball facts (at least as they were in 1979) such as Lifetime Hits, Hits in a Single Season and so on. It includes information on all aspects of baseball including Home Runs, Grand Slams, Batting Averages, Strike-Outs, Awards and more.

The last section of the book is titled Slightly Off The Record. It includes information like Colorful Phrases Of Baseball, Baseball Stars In The Movies, Some Offbeat Questions, On Getting Fined, Strange But True, Hard-Luck Stories and more.

This would be a great book addition for anyone who collects baseball memorabilia or is just a fan of the game.

The book is in very good condition considering it"s age. The front cover has a bend on the lower left binding edge as seen in photo. There are some very small stains and some writing on the first page of the inside cover and some smudges on the inside back cover. The interior pages have yellowed some, but are not brittle. There is no writing, smudges, or dog-ears on the interior pages.
