Betty Crocker"s Cooking Calendar - Guide to Meal Plans

This is such a neat little book. It is titled "Betty Crocker's Cooking Calendar - A Year Round Guide to Meal Planning with Recipes and Menus." The book has a 1962 copyright by General Mills.

The book is laid out like a day planner with each month starting a new section. Each left-hand page is filled with a wealth of information, recipes, menus and other tidbits. The right-hand pages will display seven days of the month. Each date will have a little bit of trivia on it.

Some examples:

On May 15th, in 1940 nylon stockings went of sale for the first time.

On August 24th, in 1814 British troops captured Washington and burned the Capitol.

October 23rd, "The night shows stars and women in a better light." Byron.

The first page of each month tells about the month, how it got its name, the month flower and gem stone.

Some of the recipes include: Chicken-Asparagus Cheese Bake, Peaches Flambeau, Baked Potato Cream, Veal Smitane, Cabbage and Frank Jubilee, Orange Streusel Coffee Cake, Crusty Baked Apples, Cauliflower and Tomatoes Parmesan, Perfection Peach Sauce.

The book is hardcover with wire spiral binding. The outside cover is in good condition with some slight wear to the binding edge. The is a small cut on the lower right corner. The interior pages are extremely clean - no writing or dog-ears. The title page has a couple of fractures on the upper right corner. I found no writing on any of the date pages, so it doesn"t appear the book was ever used.

This cookbook and planner would make a great gift for someone who enjoys cooking!
