This cookbook was printed to commemorate the 1976 Texas Bicentennial. The title of the cookbook is "Birdville Council of Parent-Teacher Associations Bicentennial Cookbook - 1976-1977." Birdville is a school in Fort Worth, Texas. You"ll find a wide variety of Texas recipes in this cookbook. Some of the recipes include: Blueberry Torte Dessert, Artichoke Balls, Easy Fudge Pie, Cream Cheese Pie, Old Fashioned Cabbage Slaw, Oakmeal Drop Cookies, Mexican Cornbread, Cheese Shepherd"s Pie, Festive Squash, Copper Pennies Salad, Avocado Dip, Cheese Rice, Chicken Tetrazzini, and many more. Each recipe has the name of the person who contributed it. On the bottom of several pages are little bits of wisdom such as: "Worry is interest paid on trouble before it is due." "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." Henry Adams "All people smile in the same language." The back pages of the cookbook are full of advertisements taken by the Fort Worth and Tarrant County merchants to help with the expense of printing the cookbook. The cookbook is in good overall condition - inside and out. The cover has some wear to the outer edges and a very light stain on the right side about 1/3 from the bottom. The interior pages are clean with no writing. The edges of the interior pages have some wear and the pages have turned slightly darker from age. I found one page dog-eared - probably a favorite recipe of the previous owner. This is a large cookbook. It measures 8 3/4x11" in size and has 134 pages. The cover pages are just short of the width of the interior pages because of the type of binding used.
