This is a nice vintage copy of Holiday Magazine dated March, 1958. There are many interesting articles and advertisements from that year!My fellow Texans might enjoy the article by Robert Penn Warren titled "How Texas Won Her Freedom." It is the story of Sam Houston and his incredible rout of the Mexican Army in the Battle of San Jacinto. "New Orleans Society" tells of the social season which is concentrated into carnival time and the feverish activities of choosing its queen. You will see pictures of Miss Mary Wing Tebo, one of the city"s grandes dames and Mrs. Elizabeth Pipes Borah, wife of Judy Wayne G. Borah. Some exotic pictures of a beautiful land are included in the article "The Worlds of Tangier." Among the many vintage advertisements you"ll see the 1958 Oldsmobile that featured a Trans-Portable Radio which could be removed from the dash of the car and used as a portable radio. The very cool Triumph TR3 is shown in one of the ads. I especially loved the two page ad for Ford Thunderbird, Edsel, Mercury, and Lincoln Continental. All of these cars are shown in full color! The magazine front cover has some wear to the surface and edges. The binding edge has tears on both the bottom and top edge at the fold. There are also very small tears on the bottom edge of the front cover. The interior pages are clean - no writing or dog-ears. One interior page is torn on the upper inside corner. It is in the margin and no text or pictures are in the torn portion. The back cover is missing, so there is wear to the last page of the magazine. The magazine has a light musty smell from being stored for years, however, it is not unpleasant. Despite the damage to this magazine, it is still a fun trip down memory lane!
