Metropolitan Washington D.C. Info Map - Gulf Station

This is a very nice map of the Metropolitan Washington D.C. area. It was distributed by Gulf Service Stations whose motto was "Stop At The Sign Of The Orange Disc."

These is no date on the map, however, from the graphics & products listed, I believe it to be from the late 1930's or 1940's. It was bundled with the Washington D.C. tour book (my item Book210) which has a date of 1933. The copyright was by Rand McNally & Company.

There is a block on the top side of the map that states, "BEFORE YOU START - Get complete map and touring information from Gulf Tourgide (correct spelling) Bureau, 1515 Locust St. - Phone Pennypacker 4240 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania."

One side of the map looks much like a regular map - showing the Washington D.C. area and surrounding countryside. The reverse side shows a closeup view of Streets, Parks, Points-Of-Interest, and Principal Buildings.

On left side of the street map side, shows nice drawings of the main buildings and monuments in the area such as The White House, Washington Monument, The Pentagon, Smithsonian Institute, and more.

The map is in very good condition - inside and out. The only damage is a one inch tear at the top left edge where the map is folded and one tear on an interior page. There is no writing or dog-ears.

This is a nice piece of Gulf Oil or Washington D.C. memorabilia!
