This is a very nice issue of the Saturday Evening Post dated October 1978. The cover features features former Miss America, Phyllis George. Ms. George went on to have a career as a sportscaster and a leading role in the Special Olympics. There is a very interesting article titled "Counterfeiting." It discusses the problem of U. S. currency counterfeiting and the steps taken in the late 1970"s to stop it. You"ll enjoy the article titled "Child Geniuses." It has sections discussing the lives of such greats as Nelson Rockeffer, Helen Keller, Ernest Hemingway, T. S. Elliot, Johnny Carson, Brendan Behan, and more. There are some nice vintage pictures of some of these people included in the article. If you enjoy riding the bicycle, then "Crossing America on a Bicycle" will peak your interest. It includes some nice pictures and the story of the four and a half month trip made across the U.S. by Sinclair Buckstaff, Jr. Texas football just wouldn"t be as interesting with out the Texas A&M Aggies. The article by Nat B. Read, Jr. discusses "Football with a Difference" in this issue. It includes a picture of the Fighting Aggie Band and the Guinness world record holding Aggie bonfire that was held each year. It has been discontinued after a terrible accident a few years ago. Different takes on Noah"s Ark or detailed by painting of different artists in "Noah's Art." I enjoyed the colorful interpretation by each artist on this subject. In "Frank Gifford: A Sense of Style," the career of Frank Gifford is detailed both on and off the football field. He had been one of the best halfbacks in college and pro football. He went on to have a successful career as a TV sports and newcasting announcer. The magazine is in excellent condition - inside and out. Except for some light fading on the upper edge of the front cover, this magazine could pass for a recent issue. The interior pages are in "like new" condition - now writing or dog-ears. This magazine is gift quality and would make an excellent birthday present for someone born October 1978 or had some other milestone event that year!
