This is a February 1940 issue of Song Hits Magazine. It featured the lyrics to the popular songs of the day. One of the interesting features - this issue includes the words to songs in popular movies of the day - That's Right, You're Wrong, Dancing Co-Ed, and The Roaring Twenties. Words from the Cotton Club Parade are given, as well, with some very vintage pictures of Louis Armstrong, the Marx Brothers, Virginia Dale, and Peter Hayes. If you are a fan of Mary Martin, then you will enjoy the one page article titled "Mary Had A Little Song." The article discusses her career and gives a short bio of the actress. Maybe you remember the Paramount Picture release of the movie "Gulliver's Travels." The lyrics to six of the movie songs are included in this issue. (see photo) There is also a full-page ad for the movie in this issue. You?ll find the lyrics to these songs: Waltz In Blue; Down In The Valley And Over The Fence; What Every Young Girl Should Know; Under Your Spell; I Got Shoes, You Got Shoesies; An Apple For The Teacher; Pick Yourself Up (Brush Yourself Off); Vagabond Dreams; Blue Rain; El Rancho Grande; Hello, Mister Kringle; and more. The old advertisements are as interesting as the songs. You?ll see ads for the Twin-Arc Sun Lamp by Health Ray Mfg. Company, Remington Portable Typewriter, Thynmold Girdles, Rejuvia Lipsticks, Music Publishers Holding Corporation, and more. The magazine is in relatively good condition - considering its age. The outer cover has some surface wear and a few small tears and wear to the edges. The interior pages have darkened with age but are in good condition, otherwise - no writing or dog-ears. The title page has the lower corner missing and a small piece missing at the top of the page. Once other page as a small corner missing - but it is in the margin and doesn?t remove any text.
