I love this 1952 vintage serving bowl. It was made by The Taylor Smith Taylor China Company and features the pattern "Conversation."The pattern was designed by Walter Dorwin Teague (1883-1960) who was best known as an illustrator and glass designer. Mr. Teague was a man of many talents, however, and has many, many accomplishments to his credit. Mr. Teague did many designs of lamps, radios and other items in the Art Deco Style. He was responsible for the Eastman Kodak Brownie Camera design, as well. Glassware for Steuben was another of his accomplishments. Do you remember the old Texaco Gas Stations - the ones painted white with forest green streamline stripes? These also had a free-standing post bearing a red Texaco Star on a white disk. You guessed it! - Designed by Mr. Teague. This lovely bowl is oblong in shape. The interior is a cream color white. The outer edges are a deep, reddish brown. The center of the bowl has a very nice pattern of leaves and flowers in shades of brown, tan, sage and light pink. The bowl measures 10" long, 6 3/4" wide, and the top edge is 1 3/4" high. The bowl is in excellent condition - no chips or cracks. There are some light surface scratches that can only be seen if turned in the right light. Please include $7.00 for shipping in the U.S. Add an additional $1.65 if you would like the bowl insured. I add new items to my shop frequently. Please bookmark Moments In Time and visit often!
