Startling New World Of Entertainment - This Is Cinerama
for item Book463
This is a very interesting book which was a program for a film that was released in 1954 titled "This Is Cinerama." This process was the beginning of motion pictures as we know them today. Cinerama’s three-eyed camera burst out of the flat frame that had enclosed conventional film story telling. This process gave the illusion of depth and the sense of movement that previous movies lacked.
The movie "This Is Cinerama" was a Lowell Thomas and Merian C. Cooper Cinerama Presentation. It was produced by Merian C. Cooper and Robert L. Bendick.
For the first time in movie history, audiences would see and feel the ride of a roller-coaster, see and hear the thunderous beauty of Niagara Falls, ride a gondola through the canals of Italy, witness a bull fight in Madrid and more. Finally, the motion picture allowed the viewer to feel like he was on the scene.
The beginning of the book starts with a chapter titled "What Is Cinerama?" The front inside cover has an illustration showing how three projectors are used in the theater to create the Cinerama affect. The back pages of the book tell "The Story of Cinerama."
The back inside cover has a message from S. H. Fabian, President of Stanley Warner Corporation. It includes a picture of Mr. Fabian, as well.
This would make a nice piece of memorabilia for the movie collector!
The book is in good overall condition. As you can see in the photo – the entire book had been folded over – probably stored that way at some point over the years. There is some minor wear to the outer cover edges and corners. The interior pages are extremely clean – no writing or dog-ears.
