Minstrel And The Ballet Boys Program - Will Rogers

Minstrel And The Ballet Boys Program - Will Rogers
for item Misc414

$12.00

This is a program booklet. The front reads, "The Past Matrons and Patrons Association Presents Minstrel and The Ballet Boys Program." The event was held at Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 17, 1947.

There is little information about the event other than a list of names that were the members of The Ballet Boys. The show was under the direction of Miss Ida Mae Williams, City Recreation Department. A solo part was by J. W. (Billy) Hoskins. He was accompanied by Charles Miller.

The best part of this booklet is the wonderful old advertisements. It is very interesting to see the names of companies that were in business over fifty years ago. My two favorites would have to be the old Leonard’s Department Store ad on the back cover and the one on the front inside cover for The Fair, The Store of Nationally Famous Fashions.

Some of the other advertisements include R. E. Cox & Company, Goldstein Brothers Credit Jewelers, Lelia Mae’s Flower Shop, Dickson-Jenkins Manufacturing Company, Lovelace Grocery and Market, and many more.

Another amusing thing is the phone numbers – all just five digits long.

The booklet is in very good condition – inside and out. The outer cover has turned darker due to age. The interior pages are very clean – no writing or dog-ears. There is a strip on the inside where the first page should be. It looks like this page has been cut from the booklet. I believe this might have been done before the book was handed out because the strip is perfectly straight – like it was machine cut.

While I haven’t a clue exactly what kind of program The Ballet Boys was supposed to be, the booklet is a wonderful piece of Fort Worth, Texas, memorabilia!

Please include $1.50 for shipping in the U.S. Add an additional $1.30 if you would like the shipment insured.
