Item #Book561

This is a very interesting book - a true account of the lift of Captain Theodore Canot, Trader in gold, ivory and slaves on the coast of Guinea. This is his own story as told in the Year 1854 to Brantz Mayer. It has been edited by Malcolm Cowley.

Albert & Charles Boni published the book that has a 1928 copyright. This is a First Edition – August 1928 Third Printing. The nice illustrations and cover design are by Miguel Covarrubias. The book was printed by J. J. Little and Ives Company of New York. There are 376 pages and several nice illustrations. There is no dust jacket.

The book is in good overall condition – inside and out. The outer cover has some light wear to the edges and corners. The interior pages are clean with no writing or dog-ears. The pages have darkened to a light golden tan due to age, however, they are not brittle. The last few pages of the book have an area that has darkened on the inside upper portion about a 3x3” area. It appears that something was used for a bookmark and caused the pages to darken some where they were in contact with the bookmark. Only the last two pages are really noticeable – one is blank and the other only has one paragraph – the end of the Epilogue.

Please include $3.50 for media mail shipping in the U.S. Add an additional $1.30 if you would like the book insured.
